Five Year Plans (FYPs) and Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs)

  Bangladesh is widely acclaimed for its economic and social progress by the time it has completed half a century after its independence. On the other hand, there are some formidable challenges facing the country e.g. vulnerability to the impact of climate change, political uncertainty and weak governance. The policies adopted y various ruling governments have greatly contributed towards such progress and challenges. The political philosophies of the ruling parties guided the policies pursued for development. Five Year Plans (FYPs) The first FYP was prepared in 1973 for the period FY1973 to FY 1978. After the end of the period, a Two Year Plan during FY 1978-FY 1980, was charted and subsequently three more FYPs were put into action (covering FY 1980 to FY 1995).

Environmental Movement Environmental movement refers to all efforts and initiatives that represent any form of activism towards the protection of environment. Environmental activists work for changes in public policy and individual behavior to ensure just and sustainable management of resources and stewardship of the environment.
