Freewriting can improve your writing and make you a productive writer

I used to freewrite but I didn't know that I was 'freewriting'

Recently I have completed a course on generating research ideas on online learning platform Udemy. In this course I got familiar with the term 'freewriting'.

This is a writing strategy where you write down all your thoughts for a specific period of time without stopping and paying attention to grammar, spelling or structure. If you google the term you may find many definitions of the term. The main point is the same. For example:

Freewriting is the practice of writing down all your thoughts without stopping, and without regard for spelling, grammar, or any of the usual rules for writing. (Study.com)

This strategy is highly effective in improving our writing skills and increasing our writing output

It is especially helpful for academic researchers. When you start a research project you have to read large number of articles, book chapters etc. to generate research idea / topic and also collect information for completing different sections of the dissertation. After you have read some articles you may have find some ideas about some gaps in a specific research area/topic. So you have to write your thoughts and reflections down to save them from being lost as our brain have limited memory capabilities.

I once saw some of my colleagues' Facebook/ Twitter posts where they said that they read for a long time and by this time ended up with merely one or two sentences written. I think this is not a problem at the beginning stage of one's career. This initial inefficiency can be overcome over time as expertise develops and by practicing freewriting.

I used this approach many times during my research paper writing. But I did not know that this strategy is called freewriting. I used to sit at my desk and start writing what is on /comes to my mind related to the topic/section of the article I am writing. This approach works very well. It also helps avoid plagiarism because you are able to avoid similarity by writing on your own way.

The Language Movement: A summary of its Significance for Bangladesh

The Language Movement The language movement is a very significant event in the history of Bangladesh. It is actually a series of events regarding the issue of what would be the status of Bangla/Bengali language in the newly formed Pakistan in 1947. How language movement paved the way to the independence of Bangladesh? The movement played a great role in subsequent independence of Bangladesh in 1971 in a number of ways. First, The language issue had huge economic implications for Bengalis ( See the related article on BBC Bangla ). If only Urdu was made the national language of Pakistan, the Bengalis of East Pakistan would lag behind in terms of government jobs in different sectors including defense forces. The Bengali Muslims supported the cause of Pakistan for their economic freedom and development. The insistence of Urdu by the rulers disappointed the Bengali people from the very outset. The culturally oppressive decision by the central government led to form and strengthen the langua...
