What Self-help Books to Read and Why?

What is self-help book?

Wikipedia defines self-help book as "A self-help book is one that is written with the intention to instruct its readers on solving personal problems"(see the Wikipedia entry on self-help book). 

The books have taken their name from Self-Help, an 1859 best-seller by Samuel Smiles. Such books are also known and classified as "self-improvement" which is a term that is a modernized version of self-help.

For example, self-help books cover personal productivity/time management, guidance on relationship/marriage, principles for personal/career success, management of personal life (goal setting etc.), religiosity and  many more.

There are large number of (thousands or even lakhs of such books) published self-help titles on different topics/themes. 

What self-help book should you read?

You should choose self-help books for your reading in following ways! 

First, you can select relevant  books based on the topic you need to know/you are interested in. If you are interested in personal productivity enhancement you should consult with books specifically written on this theme. For example, The Productive Muslim is a recent popular book for practicing Muslims who strive to boost their life productivity while practicing Islam well.

Second, not all self-help books have got same acceptability/popularity. You can consult YouTube, related blogs to learn about people`s opinion about most effective self-help books   in general and also specifically in different categories. You may opt to read out the best such books (both in general or in specific topics).

Bengali Self-Help Books

The self-help literature in Bengali is evolving and gradually becoming rich. Although most existing books are translated versions of existing bestseller English books, in recent years many original /genuine books have been published.

Reading Books is an art. You should read books in a systematic way to make it effective. There are many writings and video resources online on how to read books effectively. You should consult the resources before commencing your book-reading journey.
